The photograph on this page is of Ty Cobb and his teammates, and is from the Special Collections department of Georgia State University's Pullen Library. These photographic collections are an absolute time vortex for me. The entire onsite collection consists of over 300,000 photos. Luckily for me there are only around 8,000 of them online, or the entire rest of my life would be occupied by looking at the photos. The links labelled pages one through five below are a few pages from the Lane collection I particularly enjoyed because of the photographs of buildings in Atlanta, including quite a few beautiful ones which we have lost over the years.
The site has a good search facility, and by changing and refining my searches I've been able to find photos
on area neighborhoods and landmarks which I initially failed to find in the collection.
www.atlantatimemachine.com has some interesting comparisons of photos from the archives with current photos. Check it out.
