I've created a photo album of Lithonia (click here to see it). Lithonia is a town with an enormous amount of potential. Because of its history as the town where the abundant granite quarried in Dekalb was cut, it has a large number of high quality durable buildings throughout the older historic parts of the city. Even many of the utility buildings and modest cottages are built of granite.
Despite Lithonia's potential my fear is that the low quality sprawling assemblage of strip malls and cheaply built subdivisions and condos oozing toward it's historic center from the direction of I-20 and Covington Highway will overtake and damage the town before people in Lithonia realize just how worth preserving and extending the historic core is.
