I no longer write much about technology, but I'm fascinated with the uses of traditional craft methods to come up with new engineering approaches. Harvard's Wyss Institute has come up with an amazing use for origami, the traditional Japanese paper folding technique. The Wyss Institute's goal is to create technology inspired by biology.
They've built a robot which folds itself into shape, then crawls off under it's own power. If you want to read about it check out this article on the Wyss Institute site. But be sure to watch the video. It's really an engaging little creature.
